Each ingredient is selected for its function, skin compatibility, safety, and role within a complete formulation, rather than its standalone appeal.

How does sustainability guide your ingredient choices?

Sustainability is a core decision-making standard—not a marketing claim.

We evaluate ingredients based on:

Environmental impact and renewability
Farming or cultivation practices
Ethical sourcing and cruelty-free standards
Long-term ecosystem stewardship

When available and appropriate, we prioritize organically grown, regeneratively farmed, or responsibly cultivated ingredients, as well as alternatives that help protect threatened or over-harvested species.

Do you use organic ingredients?

How do you approach endangered or environmentally sensitive ingredients?

We intentionally avoid sourcing ingredients that contribute to environmental harm or species depletion.

When a plant or material is threatened, we may choose cultivated, plantation-grown, bio-identical, or plant-derived alternatives that preserve biodiversity while maintaining functional and sensory integrity.

For example, we use regeneratively cultivated Hawaiian sandalwood rather than endangered wild-harvested sandalwood species.

Do you use preservatives in your products?

Yes. We preserve all water-based REIMI Botanicals products, including water-based lotions, toners, cleansers, and creams. We view preservatives as essential for your (the consumer) safety and our product integrity.

Water-based skincare and haircare products are highly susceptible to microbial growth, making preservation a critical part of our formulation philosophy.

Preservatives protect against harmful bacteria, yeasts, and molds that thrive in water-rich natural formulas.

Our 100% oil-based products contain an antioxidant to prevent early oxidation of the precious plant-based oils, but typically will not contain preservatives, unless they are going to be used in shower.

What is the difference between REIMI Botanicals and AYUREIMI ingredient philosophies?

Both brands share the same sustainability, ethical sourcing, and transparency standards—but differ in formulation approach.

REIMI Botanicals integrates botanical ingredients with well-researched cosmetic actives when they enhance performance, stability, or skin feel.
AYUREIMI is rooted in traditional herbal and ritual practices, emphasizing whole, minimally processed ingredients and select traditional materials such as organic ghee.

These are complementary philosophies—modern cosmetic science in one, ancestral formulation wisdom in the other.

Does REIMI Botanicals use synthetic ingredients?

We may use nature-derived, bio-identical, or lab-created cosmetic ingredients when they:

Improve formulation stability or safety
Reduce environmental impact
Protect threatened natural resources
Enhance skin compatibility

All ingredients are selected for established cosmetic use and are included with intention.

Does AYUREIMI use cosmetic actives?

No. AYUREIMI formulations do not rely on modern isolated cosmetic actives.

Instead, they emphasize whole botanicals, traditional ingredients, slow extraction methods, and ritual application, drawing from ancestral systems of care. Preservation and stability are achieved through traditional formulation strategies and thoughtful packaging.

How do you formulate for sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin requires respect, not restriction.

Why do you use biophotonic (UV-protective) glass packaging?

When appropriate, we package products in UV-protective biophotonic glass to help preserve ingredient stability, reduce degradation from light exposure, and naturally extend shelf life—supporting both product integrity and sustainability.

We may also package product in Amber glass, which also has some UV protective qualities.
